1877: The Hellenic Red Cross is founded, on the initiative of Queen Olga and the first president is Marco Renieri.

1915: The Corps of Greek Girl Scouts is founded, which will later be renamed the Corps of Greek Girl Guides.

1944: The Nazi invaders destroy Distomos and kill 218 of its inhabitants.

1947: SAAB produces its first car.

1956: The Karamanlis government decides on the tourist development of Lycabettus, with the construction of a cable car and a luxury refreshment bar.

1967: The Six Day War ends, with a victory for the Israelis over the Arabs. The Israelis conquer the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank of the Jordan River, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.
