Regarding the shortage of EKAV rescue personnel observed in most regions of the country, the president of EKAV workers Giorgos Mathiopoulos spoke to SKAI and the show “Dekatianoi” with Yiannis Pittaras and Giorgos Grigoriadis, complaining that the rescuer who spoke to Tsipras about the ambulance problem is a SYRIZA trade unionist

Specifically, Mr. Mathiopoulos emphasized that “what we are saying is that 1,200 lifeguards should be hired immediately to cover the serious gaps that exist in various regions of the country. The last competition that took place and we got ambulances was in 2004. According to Mr. Mathiopoulos in Attica “we do business with donations” and that “on a daily basis we have 30-40 ambulances that are immobilized because they operate 24 hours a day. 80% of the vehicles are made in the respective companies that have given us the ambulances and there are long delays in the repair”.

“From there on, EKAB should not become a field of political confrontation and some people come out and say that we had 85 ambulances 4 years ago in Attica. Or for Mr. Tsipras, the leader of the official opposition, to come out and have a completely random meeting with a savior and tell him that the disaster has been coming for 4 years and that this savior should be the head of SYRIZA in EKAV. This is unacceptable”

“We cannot partisan the problem. They cannot come out and say that we had 85 ambulances 4 years ago in Attica, while we have 50-60 every day since 2010,” added Mr. Mathiopoulos.
