The need for cooperation and solidarity was mentioned by the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Mr. Ieronymos during the meeting he had today at noon in the Archdiocese with the interim Prime Minister Mr. Ioannis Sarmas.

The Archbishop welcomed the Prime Minister and wished him strength and patience in his work, so that he could cope with his responsible duties.

Mr. Sharmas thanked for the welcome and wished His Beatitude on his recent name day, characterizing his contribution to the Church as very important. He also expressed the belief that the Gospel and human rights are two sides of the same coin and wished that the faith of the people would always be strong.

The Archbishop also spoke about the need for solidarity, stressing that “we are called to offer what we can from whatever position God places us. We need, especially in today’s circumstances, cooperation, solidarity, respect for the freedom of each person. State and Church have achieved this many times. Sometimes, of course, they didn’t succeed. We came into conflict. However, this is of no use. That’s why we have to be careful about our cooperation. One should help and respect the other.”
