With an increase in passenger traffic and flights in relation to the corresponding period of 2022 and 2019, the first five months of the year closed, for all the airports of our country, (Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece ).

In particular, for the first five months of the year in Greece (January/May 2023) according to the data of the Civil Aviation Service, the total number of passengers traveling at the airports (arrivals and departures of foreign and domestic passengers), reached 18,057,033, compared to 14,067,021 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 16,298,548 passengers in 2019. From the above statistics, there is a +28.4% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2022 and a +10.8% increase compared to 2019.

According to the data of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), this May recorded an increase in passenger traffic by +14.6% compared to 2022 and by +16.6% compared to 2019, as 6,841,825 were handled in 2023 passengers, in 2022 5,970,289 were handled and in 2019 5,868,304 were handled.

Flights

Regarding flight statistics (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures) May 2023 52,139 flights were carried out, compared to 51,870 in 2022 and 48,998 flights in 2019, with air traffic increasing by +0.5% compared to 2022 and increasing by +7.5% compared to 2019.

From the flight statistics for the first five months of the year (January/May 2023) it appears that there were 154,685 flights in 2023, compared to 144,433 in 2022 and 147,662 flights in 2019with first five-month air traffic up +7.1% compared to 2022 and up +4.8% compared to 2019.
