The president of Elliniko Metro S.A. expresses his satisfaction with the selection of a private operator for the Thessaloniki metro in a post on social media. Nikos Tachiaos, after the awarding of the Operation and Maintenance Tender of the Thessaloniki metro. “I am sure that the decision to choose the solution of a private operator for the Thessaloniki metro is wise and will be vindicated by the result”.

The president of Elliniko Metro clarifies that “the private operator has no involvement in the charging of travel to metro users. The price of the ticket that the passengers will pay is set and will be set by the state”. And he adds: “Watch out for specula. I repeat that in all the scenarios that I have seen, the people of Thessaloniki can be sure that they will move with a very cheap ticket, of the order of what OASTH currently charges and even with transfers between the two means, the metro and the buses”.

Regarding its operation, the president of Elliniko Metro, mentions in his post. “The rest of the details, for example that we will be able to pass the metro gates with a mobile app, in the same way we now pay with Wallet, without issuing a physical ticket, i.e. paper, you will learn along the way, as the construction contractor, the operator, OSETH, OASTH and we at Helliniko Metro SA. we will complete, each with his own role and all together, the process of restructuring public transport in Thessaloniki, which has already begun”.
