Another blow to the “hard” drug trafficking and trading circles in Achaia was inflicted by the Drug Prosecution Department of the Patras Security sub-directorate with the dismantling of a criminal organization.

In a large police operation carried out on Monday in Patras and Kato Achaia, large amounts of heroin were found and two people were arrested, while two more accomplices are being sought, whose full details have been identified.

According to exclusive information of the “Peloponnisos” newspaper, approximately 8 kilograms of heroin and 700 grams of heroin were found. of hemp buried in “kavatza” in a forest area near the settlement of Maneteika in Western Achaia.

The drugs were found in a barrel – with a capacity of 20 liters – that had been dug up and placed near a plot of land.

The arrested persons, who in the past have engaged the prosecuting authorities for similar cases and reside in Patras, regularly traveled to the area in order to procure quantities of the substances, which then channeled them, mainly, to users in Patras.

In searches of their homes and cars by the Narcotics Enforcement Officers, two precision scales, a TOKAREV pistol, mobile phones and three vehicles were located and confiscated.

By rough calculations, the estimated value of the drugs ranges from 105,000 to 210,000 euros.

The members of the criminal organization had distinct roles and in fact one of the arrested had a leading role with another wanted person.

A criminal case was filed against them and today they are going to be taken to the public prosecutor of Patras. Official announcements from the local ELAS are expected within the day.
