The employee was unlawfully eliminating fines in companies for the late notices of voluntary resignation of employees, against a sum of money which he requested from company accountants.
He was arrested yesterday (29/6) at noon by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces, an employee of the Public Employment Service (P.Y.P.A.) accused of bribery by profession and by extension and breach of duty by extension.
The case file that was formed also includes an employee-relative of the person arrested for complicity in the bribery of an employee and 13 private individuals accused of bribing an employee.
As announced by ELAS, for the investigation of the case a relevant complaint from the Public Employment Service was used, according to which the employee was unlawfully eliminating fines in companies for the late notices of voluntary departure of employees, against a sum of money which he requested from company accountants.
As it emerged from the investigation, the arrested person since at least the beginning of March, taking advantage of his status, systematically demanded a monetary reward of 50 to 100 euros, in order to avoid imposing a fine of 400 to 800 euros on companies that had submitted voluntary departures of their employees.
At the same time, it emerged that a relative of his, who also works at the Public Employment Service, provided him with the necessary assistance to carry out his actions and informed him of any acquaintances of accountants with employees of the service, in order to avoid the disclosure of his action.
The police also brought the second accused but she was not arrested due to the passing of the car. In physical searches and from the search carried out at home, they were also found 4,050 euros and 2 mobile phones were confiscated.
So far, the involvement of the employee has been established in at least 15 cases, while the investigation to verify and establish similar cases continues.
The arrested person, with the case file filed against him, is taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
