To incident with Dimitris Tzanakopoulos at the SYRIZA offices mentioned the Panagiotis Rigasspeaking to SKAI misfits.

Mr. Rigas, when asked about the incident, emphasized to Yannis Dsuno and to Christos Koutras:

“You will allow me not to discuss this, as there are other very important issues, whatever it is will be discussed in the relevant party bodies. It does not concern society and above all it does not concern our discussion in the critical phase that exists for society as well as for SYRIZA which is entering a new era.

You know my ethos and style is not to enter into such discussions. However, I have no responsibility for anything that has happened or could have happened. Absolutely none.”

Referring to the situation in SYRIZA and the decision of Alexis Tsipras to resign, Mr. Rigas commented:

“Before I talk about the decision of Alexis Tsipras, it is very difficult for all of us, including me. You know Alexis Tsipras, I’ve known him since childhood. I was one of those who supported him, all the years and in the leadership and in the difficult years when I was secretary of the party that the party trusted me and he himself, throughout this period of governing the country. And also in yet another difficult period in the Ministry of National Defense that we had and the development with the Prespa Agreement.

I want to tell you that Alexis Tsipras and what happened, the united party and that the left is the government, is his stamp absolutely and of course, I want you to allow me this, the statements of Mr. Mitsotakis regarding the politician are small-minded in particular his opponent but do you know something? It is also the image of the New Democracy when Mr. Samaras did not deliver at Megaros Maximos. It’s a very bad image for the political system.”

Regarding whether there is SYRIZA without Tsipras, he answered:

“Alexis Tsipras will be there today and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, I mean his contribution will be important. He is not one of the people and we are not like a party whose people leave when some circles close and I mean that with his presence he will lead the course of SYRIZA from here on out.

SYRIZA will proceed as he himself said. The new wave should be the one who should come out from the edge and let the new wave of people and politicians that we need to exist pass forward”.

On the successor of Tsipras and whether he should nominate him:

“No. I think I will not interpret Alexis Tsipras but I understand, I know, Alexis Tsipras has confidence in our leadership, in the way we operate and he will let things go with the normal development of things, as we know how to handle them .

Things are too fast the way they are. We want on Monday to have a head of the Parliamentary Group who will be in the program statements and immediately after that we will have all the developments. The political secretariat will meet, the road map for the permanent or regular congress and the election of a new president will be introduced.”
