From Monday July 10th to Thursday August 31st this year, the summer sales will last in the shops of Thessaloniki, which can optionally operate on the first Sunday of the period, on 7/16, as announced by today’s announcement by the Trade Association of Thessaloniki city ​​(ESTH).

Especially for the optional operation of the commercial stores on Sunday 16/7, the ESSTH reminds that the time frame is determined from 11 in the morning until eight in the evening, while the organization proposes that they open at 11 in the morning, but download rolls at six in the afternoon.

In the meantime, drawing the attention of shopkeepers to the observance of the provisions on discounts and reduced prices, the ESTH notes that “the penalties are heavy” and explains that in the aggravating case where it is proven that the discounts are inaccurate or misleading, a fine equal to 2 % of the annual turnover and in any case not less than 20,000 euros.

In this context, it is emphasized that during the discounts, in addition to listing the old and new prices of the goods and services sold at a discount, the listing and commercial communication of the discount rate is also allowed. Previous price means the lowest price applied by the merchant during the 30-day period before the price reduction was applied.

When the product has been on the market for less than 30 days, the previous price is the lowest price applied by the merchant during the time the product has been on the market. Where the price is progressively reduced during the 30 days prior to the application of the price reduction, the previous price shall mean the price in effect prior to the application of the first of the successive price reductions.
