New tragedy with an Irish tourist was made known by the Daily Mail. This is a 20-year-old man, who was pulled dead from a swimming pool in Zakynthos. The tragedy occurred last Sunday, July 2.
The 20-year-old was at a well-known Beach Bar in Laganas, Zakynthos, when he passed out in the pool.
“After spotting him motionless in the pool, the bar owner, who is also a lifeguard, immediately jumped in and gave him CPR. However, he was unable to regain consciousness. After taking him to the hospital, doctors confirmed his death. His body was then sent to Patras for a necropsy.” reports the Daily Mail.
According to the autopsy, the young man died of hemorrhagic pulmonary edemahowever, the results of the toxicology tests are awaited to determine the cause of the swelling.
A club employee who works at the bar told local media that before he was in the pool, the young man was “pale and shaking”.
The devastated club owner reported that “the man entered the pool and moved from one side of the pool to the other. The barmaid saw him and was worried because he looked very pale.”
“We tried three times (to give him CPR), but to no avail, then he was taken to the hospital. We are all devastated and in shock. I’ve been doing this job for 40 years and this is the first time something like this has happened.” he added.
