Rape of a 24-year-old: What the three involved claim – Their testimonies

The three men involved in the case present their own version of the case of the rape of the 24-year-old in a suite of a luxury hotel in Thessaloniki on New Year’s Eve.

It is worth noting that the toxicological tests of the girl are expected to be sent to a special laboratory in Switzerland, in order to be tested for the existence of drugs and the results to come as soon as possible to shed light on the case.

The 27-year-old who was arrested after the girl’s complaint, even claims that the 24-year-old asked him to go to his room.

According to the testimonies published by makthes.gr, he claimed that he called her on her cell phone to put her back in the room where the party was taking place.

“I accompanied her into the room where 6-7 people were left and started talking to her. I asked her if she wanted something else to drink and she answered no other than water. Response: On 12/30/2021 together with my friends (…), (…) and my brother (…), we came by air from Athens to Thessaloniki to celebrate the change of time. We booked hotel rooms (…) for three nights, me at 602, (at 204, (at 601 and my brother at 402.

At the same time we booked a suite with number 401 in order to make a change of time all together and to celebrate with some of our friends. Apart from the people we were with and I mentioned above, the (…) with whom we had already come in contact would also come, as he is a friend of ours from the cafe-bar with the name “Achillion” in which he is co-owner, in order to come to find us at the hotel after the change of time.

At around 00:30 on 01/01/2022 (…) asked us if he could come with some of his own friends and specifically a friend with some girls. Our friend (…) told him that there is no problem and we asked him when they arrived at the reception to inform us. Later around 2:00 o’clock he told us that two other friends wanted to come to the hotel, who came after a while. As soon as they went upstairs (…) made the necessary recommendations and after we exchanged wishes I personally continued talking to the girls who had come before and we had developed some intimacy without coming in contact with the two girls who had come last, one of whom as I learned it is called “Georgia”. About an hour later the two girls decided to leave for a reason I am not able to know, while we stayed in the room. After a while (…) picked us up and told me that one girl wanted to go back to the room and gave me her phone telling me to call her to let her go up from the reception. I actually called her from my personal phone at 4:10 and speaking directly with her, I asked her if she was at the hotel entrance to open the door of her room. After a while we went out into the hallway with (…) and saw her coming out of the elevator in front of us. I accompanied her into the room where 6-7 people were left and started talking to her. I asked her if she wanted something else to drink and she answered no other than water. We talked about everyone’s personal life, about my job and she told me that she works in a sugar company, even giving me advice on which sugar is healthier. After we developed a pleasant mood and there was an erotic mood between us, he suggested I go to my room to sleep together. After the completion of our love affair, Georgia asked me to sleep in my room, which I gladly accepted and because I was hungry I went down to the reception to eat, after I first went through 401 and suggested to my friends that we go down to eat together. After we ate because I did not want to disturb the girl, I went to 402 to sleep while my brother to 401, which was empty.

Around 14:30 today and while I was sleeping, (…) called me on my cell phone and told me that Security had come to the hotel reception following a lawsuit filed by the girl I had met erotically for rape. I immediately went down to the reception and the Police asked me to follow them to the Police Station. White Tower.

In addition, I want to state that I have never committed any criminal offense, I have never used violence against any man or woman and of course I have never forced a woman to have sex with me against her will and it never occurred to me that this girl was under influence of intoxication or that she did something during our love affair without her absolute consent.

“Together we paid 401”

In his testimony (…), (…) is said to be the party organizer in the presidential suite. However, he claimed that although the booking was in his name, he paid for it together with his friends.

Regarding the report of rape, (…) stated to the authorities that he left the room early, as the girl he was interested in had left.

From 30/12/2021 I live with friends in the hotel (…) located on the street (…) in Thessaloniki in order to celebrate the change of the year. On the eve and around 10:00 we gathered in room number 401 in order to celebrate with a party – New Year. The room is probably the largest in the hotel and was paid for by me and three other friends. In room 401 we gathered a total of about 12-14 people and there was a buffet with alcohol.

I only drank two drinks and I am not used to drinking much. At one point my friend (…) spoke to a friend on the phone who informed him that an acquaintance of his is at the hotel reception and is going to go up to the party so we went out into the hallway to indicate where he is. The girl went up and we met her in the corridor of the fourth floor where it seemed obvious that she had consumed alcohol, greeted us saying “happy birthday” and then entered with my friend Vassilis into the room where the party takes place and I left elsewhere.

All the time we were at the party my attention was focused on a girl with whom I was talking for quite some time but in the end because she left relatively early I was no longer particularly interested. So I went to his brother δωμάτιο’s room called (…) in room 402 which is right next door but he is not there as I had his entry card and I did not want to drink anymore but I was not interested in any other girl. I sat for about half an hour and finally went up to my room 601 which is right next to 602 where it’s (…). Later I called the reception to ask what time the restaurant opens for breakfast but I finally went down around 06:00 to eat something because I was hungry and the restaurant would open at 7:00.

There we were with my friends where I asked him (…) what happened to the girl and he only told me that they came in contact and nothing else as it was dawn and the hotel staff was passing by us and we could not talk comfortably. In your service that you showed me to this girl, she did not recognize me at all.

Question: Who are your friends and what room did each of you have?

Response: I had room 601, (…) had 602, his (…) brother (…) had room 402 and (…) had a room on the second floor without being able to remember an exact number.

Question: What proportion of men and women did the party have?

Response: There were four of us men, his friend (…) named (…) who called another friend of his (six men in total) and all the other girls around 8-9 approximately.

Question: Did it occur to you if drug use was used by those attending the party?

Response: No, there was nothing illegal.

What the third party involved testified

“On 30/12/2021 together with my friends (…), (…) and (…) we came by air from Athens in order to celebrate the change of time in Thessaloniki and to see some friends. We had booked rooms at the hotel (…) for three nights in order to have fun in night shops and eateries in the city. I stayed in room 402, (…) at 602, (…) at 204 and (…) at 601. We also booked 401 (suite) to have more space to eat together and change time .

When the new measures about the ban on music and opening hours became known, we decided to cancel the plans for night entertainment and go only for food and walks in Thessaloniki and change the time to do it with some friends in room 401. There we could to better control who is coming, since we would first have consulted with him and the hotel would have checked the necessary certificates.

On 31/12/2021 day Friday and around 22:30 the four friends had dinner at 401. We already knew that two of our friends (…) and another friend of his will come later, whose details I do not know.

So, around 00:30 on 01/01/2022, these two people came and informed us that some of their friends whom we did not know might also come. After a while, some girls – friends of our two friends – started coming and we sat together talking, drinking and eating. I was talking to everyone and everyone and I had not noticed anything strange. Around 3:00 I noticed a girl but later I learned that her name is Georgia talking on the couch with my brother (…) and they had come quite close. A little later I noticed that they were both missing, but I do not know if they left together.

After about half an hour my brother (…) returned alone to the room being in good condition and around 6:00 we were all together at the hotel reception to eat something there they informed us that they had sex with the girl and that is sleeping in his room (602) while she herself had booked a room in the hotel without knowing when and which room. Immediately after breakfast we went to bed in room 401 and (…) slept alone in my room (402) and around 14:30 we were informed that my brother is accused of raping the girl and we must be taken to the White Tower Security Department for further.
