Strong forces of the Fire Department are fighting a tough battle in Western Attica, Loutraki and Rhodes – What Yiannis Patophios said

In the fire that has developed in Western Attica – it started on Monday from Dervenochoria – strong ground forces are working and from the first light 5 aircraft and 8 helicopters have been made available, one of which is for their coordination.
In wider area of ​​Loutraki, strong ground forces and 4 aircraft and 3 helicopters are operating from the air.
At Rhodes, the fire that broke out yesterday afternoon, is now developing almost in the center of the island between the settlements of Apollona and Laerma, without so far threatening residential areas. There, 86 firefighters operate with 3 groups of pedestrian units and 28 vehicles, while 3 aircraft and 3 helicopters operate from the air.
Mr. Artophios emphasized that the firefighting work is supported by forces from foreign countries that have been made available by the European Civil Protection Mechanism through the pre-installation program, as well as 4 aircraft that arrived in our country yesterday afternoon from Italy and France.
The representative of the Fire Department emphasized that even today there is a very high risk of fire in Attica, Central Greece, Peloponnese, Crete, Cyclades and Northern Aegean.
