Specifically for Attica, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection informed that 3,900 police officers, 883 vehicles of the Greek Police are operating in this 24 hour period, while from this morning until now the Emergency Action Center has received 400 calls for help to citizens who have faced various problems and asked for the help of ELAS.
Regarding the issue of Attiki Odos, he stated that a retaliatory operation is currently underway both in the direction of Elefsina and in the direction of the airport. It is a difficult business, he explained, because it required the development of a special business plan in order to fully ensure every entry and exit of Attiki Odos from other vehicles, to be able to safely react and avoid collisions and other accidents.
He noted that the heavy snowfall that prevails at the moment makes it difficult to react, but assured that ELAS is in cooperation with the Attica Region and the Fire Service in order to strengthen the snow machines and ensure the roads to which vehicles are channeled. of reaction.
He also appealed to limit the movements of citizens to the absolutely necessary, due to the severity of the weather phenomenon and the deterioration that is expected at night.
He also appealed to citizens not to move unless they have anti-skid chains in their vehicles and do not place them on the points of the roads that are required.
In addition, he stressed that it is very important to keep open for the next period the main roads leading to the hospitals.
Finally, he appealed to people who will urgently need to be transported either to a hospital or anywhere else, to contact the Fire Department and the Police, and stressed that the State will ensure their safe transportation.
