According to the latest update from the Fire Department, in the last 24 hours, from 18:00 on August 11 to 18:00 on August 12, 2023, 31 forest fires occurred.
The forest fires that occurred in the area of Evangelismos of the municipality of Pylos – Nestoros, Messinia and in the area of Melissona Karystou were brought under partial control.
In Pylos, 17 firefighters operate with 8 vehicles, while 2 aircraft also operated.
According to the latest update from the Fire Department, in the last 24 hours, from 18:00 on August 11 to 18:00 on August 12, 2023, 31 forest fires occurred.
Most were treated immediately, at their initial stage.
The local investigative offices, as well as units of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) are investigating the causes of the fires.
The Fire Department reminds that, according to the Fire Risk Prediction Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, for tomorrow, Sunday, August 13, 2023, it is predicted very high fire hazard (risk category 4) for the following areas:
* PE of Evros including the island of Samothraki
* Lesbos, Lemnos
* Sporades
* Boeotia, Fthiotida, Evia including Skyros
* Attica
* Corinthia, Argolis.
All citizens are requested to be particularly careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
