THE Amateur Panathinaikos announced in a statement that after discussions with the Municipality of Athens, the men’s and women’s volleyball departments, as well as indoor soccer and wheelchair basketball, will use its closed Mets as headquarters for their in-season commitments 2023-2024.
At the same time, it became known that the training sessions will take place at OAKA, all or at least part of them, following an agreement with Dimitris Giannakopouloswhom Erasitechnis Panathinaikos thanked, as well as him Kostas Bakoyannis.
The announcement for the Mets:
“Panathinaikos A.O. informs about the seats of the volleyball divisions in the new competition season 2023-2024.
After many months of negotiations on all the possible stadiums that could accommodate but also met the conditions appropriate to the team we ended up in Metz as the seat of our competitive divisions. More specifically, we contacted the following stadiums: Cholargo, Ilysiakou, Zografou, Petroupoli, Glyfada and Ano Liosion, however there were no times when they could serve our needs.
Specific financial offers were made at the stadiums of Agios Thomas in Marousi and Panhellini, however no golden ratio was found. The counter-proposal of General Secretary Amarousiou was in unprofitable terms, both financially and competitively, proposing exorbitant financial compensation and hours that did not serve.
As far as the Panhellenic side is concerned, he never wanted to respond to our proposal. That’s how we arrived at Metz’s solution that meets our needs and that’s what we finally chose. Accordingly, for the European matches of the women’s basketball section, we declared the Ano Liosia stadium as the venue (an effort is also being made for the indoor one of Cholargos) as it was the only possible solution, while the domestic matches will be held normally at the indoor ‘P. Giannakopoulos’.
We invite our fans once again to stand by our teams and strengthen our efforts with their presence at the matches to achieve our high goals”.
The announcement about Bakoyannis:
“The Panathenaic Athletic Club feels the need to thank the Municipality of Athens for the support to the Association and the mayor of Athens Mr. Costas Bakoyannis. After a long search and continuous negotiations with different municipalities and stadiums throughout Attica, the Municipality of Athens provided the solution for Panathinaikos.
More specifically, our Association will be hosted this year at the historic indoor stadium of Metz, where it will be the official headquarters for men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s futsal and wheelchair basketball. The stadium located next to the heart of Athens it offers us the possibility to gather our parts and fight for the best possible results.
The mayor Mr. Bakoyannis and his colleagues in the Municipality responded to the request of the large group of the city and we continue in various ways the close cooperation we have in the issue of Double Redevelopment. Until then, and in order to make our transition to our new home smooth, the Municipality of Athens is taking the lead in promoting the city in the best way possible through its great sports…ambassador”.
The announcement about OAKA:
“The Panathinaikos Athletic Club warmly thanks KAE Panathinaikos and Mr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos personally for granting the training facility to OAKA. This particular development helps significantly so that our teams in men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball have the highest level of their daily life and their preparation for the games”.
