The “present” was given by the mother of the deceased young man, his brother, members of the Municipal and Local Councils of the Municipality of N. Philadelphia-N. Chalcedon, presidents and representatives of local refugee, cultural and sports clubs, city officials and a large number of AEK fans.

In his speech before the Dismissal, His Eminence referred to the Gospel Reading of the day (Matthew 17, 14-23) and the upcoming great feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

After the end of the High Priestly Divine Liturgy, His Holiness went to the place where Michalis Katsouris lost his life, during the bloody fan episodes, where in a climate of deep emotion, he performed the High Priestly Trisay in his memory.

In his brief homily, His Eminence emphasized the need to pray for the repose of the soul of the late Michael and for the consolation of his relatives, while pointing out that we do not respond to violence with violence, but with levity, dignity and respect, elements, which are consistent with our orthodox faith and the principles that govern the AEK team, wishing that the blood of the deceased Michalis be the last to be shed in the field of sports.
