The Copernicus/Emergency Management Service – Mapping service of the European Union has been activated for the fire-affected areas of the municipalities of Fyli and Aspropyrgos and the municipality of Acharna, but also for areas within the territorial jurisdiction of the municipalities of Komotini, Iasmos and Arriana of the PE of Rodopi that were affected by fire that occurred on August 21.
At the behest of the general secretary of Civil Protection, the Directorate of Planning and Emergency Response of the general secretariat of Civil Protection, as the National Contact Point, activated the Copernicus/Emergency Management Service – Mapping service of the European Union.
The purpose of the activation is the production of cartographic products and data for areas of the municipalities of Fyli and Aspropyrgos of the West Attica PE and the municipality of Acharno of the East Attica PE, (activation code EMSR690) which were affected by a fire that occurred on Tuesday, August 22 and areas in the rural jurisdiction of the municipalities of Komotini, Iasmos and Arriana of the PE of Rodopi (activation code EMSR689) which were affected by a fire that occurred on Monday, August 21, to assist the work of the agencies involved in dealing with emergencies and managing the consequences of the phenomenon.
