The wild boar invasion of Evia continues with more than 10 spotted in the past hours, according to citizen reports on social media on Alikis Street.

Specifically, their presence was noticed on the road that leads to the beach, in the so-called Leonidas peanuts.

Drivers moving in the area are asked to be particularly careful with their speeds to avoid accidents.

However, farmers and producers in the region are talking about an increased movement of wild boars in Northern Evia, compared to previous years.

They destroy everything in search of food, as a result of which even entire crops and even fields are laid waste with a simple pass,

In full growth they reach 110-180 cm in length and 170-200 kg in weight.

But many times they exceed 250 kg.

They have a highly developed sense of smell and hearing while their vision is limited, they mainly perceive movement and like most mammals they do not see colors.

Its coat consists of two types of hair, the main coat is long, hard and sparse hair while the dense undercoat is soft and short hair to protect it from low temperatures.

The coat changes twice a year, in October and May.

Coloration varies according to seasons, local generations and place of feeding, from reddish brown, gray to black.

It is a very strong animal and when it runs it can develop a speed of up to 40 km/h dragging everything in its path.

The bushy characteristic shape of the wild boar is due to its disproportionately large head.

His ears are relatively large, which he constantly moves to pick up even the faintest sound.

The nose has a long end which allows it with the help of its teeth to dig in search of food.
