In the context of strengthening road safety, the targeted actions and specialized traffic controls of the Attica Traffic Directorate continued intensively yesterday, Saturday 02 September 2023. In particular, they focused on the area of ​​the coastal E.O. Athens-Souni.

Police officers from the Attica Security Directorate, the Southeastern Attica Police Directorate and DIAS, OPKE teams also participated in the operation. and DI.MET.T.

The above actions were aimed at dealing with improvised illegal matches, as well as other dangerous violations that lead to traffic accidents, disturb the safety of transportation and the smooth and safe movement of citizens.

During the police operation, 134 violations of the Code of Criminal Procedure were confirmed, for which the corresponding administrative fines were imposed, while 4 misdemeanor violations were found for the deprivation of a driver’s license and against one person, of these, the automatic procedure was followed. Next, it is checked whether the arrested person had an organizational role in the conduct of improvised matches.

The violations confirmed were:

• 28 for not using a seat belt,

• 19 for not using a protective helmet,

• 14 for excessive speed,

• 9 for dangerous maneuvers,

• 2 for KTEO,

• 1 for an uninsured vehicle,

• 1 for worn tires,

• 2 for violation of regulatory signs and

• 58 other violations

Furthermore, they were removed:

• 38 traffic permits,

• 45 driving licenses and

• 12 plates.

At the same time, 4 vehicles were immobilized and transported.

The Hellenic Police attaches due importance to road safety issues, which are its constant priority. Controls will continue, increase and intensify, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents and protecting drivers, passengers and pedestrians. With new technological means, with a rational design of the controls and with a strict adherence to the law, the situation on the roads will be greatly improved.
