The fire that broke out in the area of Stamata shortly after 12 noon has been brought under control, according to the mayor of Dionysos, Yiannis Kalafatelis.

“We were at the scene of the fire from the first moment and avoided the worst,” he said specifically and then emphasized: “A big thank you to everyone who helped, firefighters, police, Civil Protection volunteers, employees and officials of the municipality, deputy mayors and elected officials. We will continue until the end of the fire fighting season to be vigilant and do everything necessary to protect our region and our fellow citizens.”

The mayor of Dionysos also stated that no significant damages have occurred, although at some point houses were threatened. Thanks to the immediate intervention of the Fire Department, the fire was significantly contained and its spread was prevented. The municipality also provided a municipal transport bus for the eventual removal of citizens from the scene of the fire.
