The 50-year-old phoned owners – employees of shops that sold prepaid cards and pretended to be the employee of the respective company that manages the cards in question
He was arrested on Friday night (8/9) at New Philadelphia50 years old, against whom a case file was filed by the Property Rights Department of the Attica Security Directorate for fraud by follow-up and by profession.
According to Police in locating the 50-year-old, we assisted the Property Crimes Prosecution Department after investigating and utilizing information regarding his criminal activity. Regarding the fraud methodology, the 50-year-old telephoned owners – employees of stores that sold prepaid cards and impersonated the employee of the respective company that manages the cards in question.
Then, under the pretext of solving a technical issue, the accused extracted from the victims the codes from the cards for sale, profiting from the amount of money on the cards and financially damaging the owners of the stores. As it emerged from the preliminary investigation so far, 13 cases of fraud were discovered in various regions both in Attica and in other regions of the country (Athens, Agia Varvara, Alimos, Elefsina, Nea Ionia, Rafina, Heraklion of Crete, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Patras and Agrinio). In an investigation carried out, the telephone connection from which he called the victims, prepaid cards and handwritten notes were found. The arrested person was taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
