The company operates on three axes for the protection of public health to the flood victims in Thessaly, as the Deputy Minister of Health pointed out to SKAI and on the show “Today”, Irini Agapidakis.

The first axisas he said, is the epidemiological surveillance of infectious diseases throughout Thessaly, which is based on daily information from the 26 health service structures located in the region.

According to Mrs. Agapidaki, 46 cases of gastroenteritis have been recorded of which six required hospitalization and only 3 related to pathogenic disease related to the floods.

The second axis is the entomological surveillance, specifying that the mosquito problems will appear with the drainage of the waters, in about 10 days. For this reason, special traps are placed so that they can be detected in time.

Third axis is the suitability of the water for this purpose as well sampling is done from different parts of Thessaly, three times a week.

For the risk to public health from dead animals Mrs. Agapidaki argued that there are difficulties in their removal as on the one hand several areas are blocked and on the other the crematorium in Larissa is not accessible. However, the dead animals are taken to Veria for cremation.

Regarding the assistance to the residents, he said that it is gathered in the District building and sent to the villages according to the needs of the residents.
