Acute purulent tonsillitis was confirmed by the autopsy performed on the 20-year-old student, but so far, as expected, serious and critical questions about the collapse of her body and death have not been answered.

It will be necessary to complete both the histological and toxicological examinations, while the study of the medical file of the unfortunate girl is expected to be of major importance.

The autopsy was performed at the Forensic and Toxicology Laboratory of the University of Ioannina with the participation of the family’s technical advisor.

Medical examiner Dimitris Galenderis from Thessaloniki is the technical consultant who also provided the first data from the autopsy.

“We recognized the acute purulent tonsillitis for which she was admitted to the hospital and caused the systematic collapse of all organic systems resulting in the death of the 20-year-old,” he said in statements he made.

He noted that it will take time for the results of the histological and toxicological tests to determine if everything was done to deal with the situation.

“We want to see how the tonsillitis caused the image of complete collapse. This can also be obtained from the medical file. From there it will emerge whether the situation was so serious or could have been foreseen,” he noted.

According to the timetable that gave a complete picture of the causes of the young lady’s death, it will be formed in about six months.

At this stage, major questions cannot be answered such as whether there was an incorrect assessment of the 20-year-old’s clinical picture or she was not adequately treated by the hospital.

In any case, the problem remains and there must be a detailed picture so that not the slightest shadow remains.
