In the meantime, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized in his statements that “The news is that OAKA has closede because the stability of the Calatrava roof was checked. Why was this check done? Because quite simply we are proceeding with the redevelopment of the Olympic Park. Because we included it in the Recovery Fund, and we are investing 57 million euros for its maintenance. In order to do the maintenance, the study had to be done. It is the first time a static test has been carried out since 2004. And for some reason, that’s enough to make some people abandon us. Because we proceed with studies and take care of safety. It is known that OAKA had not been maintained for two decades. Who doesn’t feel disappointed when they see the images of such important facilities that have been left to their fate for so many years? That’s exactly what we’re changing. That’s why we’re investing, that’s why we’ve launched this redevelopment, that’s why studies are being carried out,” says the prime minister.
