Tragedy in Patras: Gene tests for the 9-year-old who died after her 2 brothers

The Director of the Children’s ICU of the Rio Hospital, Andreas Iliadis, is shocked by what has happened to the three children of the Daskalaki family in Patras and has “frozen” the nation. No one can believe how so suddenly and so unjustly all three children of a young couple died for whom the first tests performed did not even show a genetic problem.

“These are three sudden events in three children,” Mr. Iliadis told thebest, obviously troubled by what has happened and plunged into grief, not only the family, but the whole city.

“It is in the thoughts, an idea that came from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, to send some organs of the 9-year-old child that we lost so suddenly to a specialized center for the discovery of genetic syndromes to see if we are dealing with such a case. All three children of the Daskalaki family died suddenly. This fact has deeply troubled the medical community which is looking for answers.

Last March, the family of Manos and Roula Daskalaki, a happy family of young and optimistic people, mourned the sudden loss of their 6-month-old daughter Iris, who suddenly fell asleep.

The parents had rushed the child to the Karamandani hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two years before this tragic development, the couple had suddenly lost their daughter Malena at the age of 3.5 again, while battling leukemia.

In April 2021, the doctors of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, led by Andreas Iliadis in Rio, again fought a huge “battle” to keep alive the third daughter of the family who had been mourning two angels for the last two years.

Georgina Georgia, then 8 years old, was being treated at the Karamandani Children’s Hospital, when she was suddenly stopped. The doctors brought her back on cardiorespiratory and the child who was hospitalized in intubation and in repression at the ICU. Children of the University Hospital of Patras managed to win the battle for life.

On July 17, little Georgina returned home safe with her parents Manos Daskalakis and Roula Pispirigou.

The little girl’s mom wrote on facebook:

“Return to our house !!! You gave a great fight to stay alive Andreas Iliadis who the first moment he received you in his arms said this child will succeed and so it happened, that’s why you owe him and we owe him your life which most important for us does not exist at the moment ..
All the doctors and the nursing staff were impeccable and above all people for that and we want to thank them publicly .. Petros Stamiris together with our dad rock next to t spent many nights awake outside the intensive care unit .. Lefko Parisi like a real rock next to us and this every day and all the hours we spent these 3 months .. Mantha Kretsi thank you very much gt with the videos from our gluer Anastasia we laughed for the first time, you really have raised your children with principles and education .. our families in Patras and Athens also stood next to you and next to us with agony and nights out throughout this fight !! and a simple prayer they brought little Georgina home again !!! The road is big from now on and the best is yet to come “.

Unfortunately fate had decided to give another hard blow to the couple. Last Saturday, little Georgina flew to the sky and her siblings.
