The organizers estimate that more than 1,500 people left a resume and spoke with company representatives, claiming one of the 1,000 jobs offered, from a multitude of specialties and branches of economic activity.
The participation of young people in the 21st “Career Day” exceeded all expectations» organized yesterday by DYPA in a central hotel of Patras. The response was very great, both from those looking for a job, and from companies looking for employees, confirming that with this particular initiative the service justifies its purpose.
From early in the morning, hundreds of interested parties had made an appointment to meet with representatives of the 47 companies that had a stand. The organizers estimate that more than 1,500 people left a resume and spoke with company representatives, claiming one of the 1,000 jobs offered, from a multitude of specialties and branches of economic activity.
It should be noted that as part of the event, free counseling workshops were held by specialized employment counselors of DYPA, in thematic sections such as the creation of an effective resume, the appropriate preparation for an interview, etc.
The “present” at the event was also given by the commander of DYPA Spyros Protopsaltis, who expressed his satisfaction, while the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christina Alexopoulou was also there, who was guided around the stands. In addition, the president of the Chamber of Achaia, Platonas Marlafekas, was also present, who had contact with Mr. Protopsaltis and business representatives.
The commander of the DYPA Spyros Protopsaltis stated the following to “Peloponnisos”: “A year and a half after the “Career Day” event in Patras, we returned and we see that the response of the employees, as well as the businesses, is very great. The demand is great, people want these tools and today (yet yesterday) businesses had the opportunity to talk to thousands of Patrinos who are interested in finding or changing jobs, because this event is not just for the unemployed, but and for those who want to find something different. There is interest all over Greece and as long as there is this demand, we will continue to organize the Career Day”.
The Peloponnese regional director of DYPA, Angeliki Kalapodi, emphasized: “We have periodically established initiatives throughout Greece, so that if businesses and the unemployed come together, they discuss all issues together, so that contact is opened and not an impersonal process. At DYPA we do a very good job and we have a very large participation and this is very positive”.
The president of the chamber of Achaia Platonas Marlafekas, emphasized: “For the 2nd year in a row DYPA, headed by Mr. Protopsaltis, is organizing the Career Day in our city and I see that there is a lot of interest. We, as the Chamber of Achaia, helped to inform businesses and we see a very large turnout. This is an innovation of the new commander that is in the right direction, because people are talking at the same time on the same day with different companies.”
