A surprise awaited on Tuesday morning (28.11.2023) Mr. Sotiria and Mr. Panagiotis Arambatzis, the elderly couple from Mani Didymoteicho who recently made a great donation to Didymoteicho Hospital with a donation of around 100,000 euros: The President of the Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, called the benefactors, expressing the State’s thanks to them, for their great philanthropy.

Specifically, in the exclusive snapshot recorded by the camera of Radio Evros, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou said: “We are moved by the nice moves you are making and I thank you on behalf of all the citizens, as you act as a fine example for the young, you who have labored with your wife for so many years and are making such an important offer for your fellow men.” She did not fail to refer to her Thracian origin afterwards: “I am also a Thracian and I am happy for the people of Thrace and the greatness of soul they show.”

Where did the money go?

It is recalled that in a recent press release issued by the administrator of the Didymoteichos Hospital, Christos Kapetanidis, he publicly thanked the Arabatzi couple, while also describing the utilization of the donation as follows:

  • A car was purchased for the transport of disabled people, who are in wheelchairs, with the inscription “SAVIOR ARABATZI DONATION” and it was put to the service of the Hospital and in particular of the Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Orestiada, impressively upgrading its operation and relieving the patients and their families .
  • The medical machine (Hysteroscope) was placed in the Obstetrics/Gynecology Clinic of the Hospital and is now a basic medical tool of the Hospital
  • 20 air conditioners, 17 computers and 5 printers were purchased and placed in appropriate positions, where necessary and necessary, greatly facilitating the operation of the Hospital, since the air conditioners provided solutions to the difficult working conditions of the doctors, mainly the surgeons, but also of other healthcare facilities and improved the patient care environment, while computers now help doctors to adapt to the modern needs and requirements of Hospitals for the benefit of everyone and especially the patients.
  • The Holy Church of Agioi Anargyri, which belongs to our Hospital, is already being improved, at the same time improving the general image of our Hospital.
  • The restoration of the roof in front of the main entrance of the Hospital has been completed
  • The improvement and renovation of the exterior of the Hospital’s Administrative Services building has been completed, the most modern method of its protection has been applied and the renovation of the courtyard area of ​​our Hospital is also being carried out, and in this way the hygiene as well as the aesthetics of the specific areas has been restored of the Hospital.
