The Regulation on the Rights of Passengers on road public transport (buses, trolleys) and on fixed-track vehicles (metro, tram) was amended according Ministerial Decision signed by Deputy Minister of Transport, Christina Alexopoulou.

Alongside, increased fines and compensations for the unhindered transport of PWDs in order to prevent and avoid incidents of discrimination against people with mobility problemsin order to more effectively protect the right of these citizens to travel, forming a stricter framework against inappropriate behavior.

Specifically, the most important adjustments enacted are:

Refusal of boarding, booking, issuing, providing a ticket to a disabled person: compensation from 30 euros to 200 euros

· Untimely and out-of-date response to a report – citizen’s complaint for violation of rights: compensation from 30 euros to 100 euros.

· Administrative fine from 2,000 euros to 2,500 euros in case of non-payment of compensation for loss – damage to a wheelchair or other aids.

Also provided are:

· The facilitation of the replacement process of the ATH.ENA Card in case of loss, theft or malfunction of the card.

· Improving the information provided to the public through digital tools and applications.

· The establishment of an obligation for passengers not to purposefully, not to misuse and not to cause damage to the equipment of the automatic fare collection system and to respect the rules of correct passage through the entrance-exit gates of the stations of fixed track vehicles.

· As an alternative to the right to compensation, the affected citizen can choose the provision of a corresponding amount of compensation products.

· The possibility of transporting an electric scooter (e-scooter).

· Establishing, for buses, a maximum number of babies, strollers, bicycles, e-scooters and pushchairs at two (2) per vehicle.
