Today is the last day the platform will remain open on the youth allowance, “by world” youth pass, but of the approximately 200,000 potential beneficiaries, just over half have applied. Less than 115,000 to be exact.
The hourglass therefore empties today, although no one can rule out – as often happens in such cases – the extension, a possibility however as is informed. it had not been discussed between the prime minister and the finance minister until late yesterday afternoon.
The Maximos Palace decided to go to great lengths by enlisting the prime minister himself, who through Tiktok participated in the ‘awakening campaign’ to young people urging them to submit their application, a video which has gone viral as it has been viewed more than 1.1 million times.
Beneficiaries this year are those who turned 18 or 19 from 1.1.2022 to 31.12.2022, as long as they are tax residents of Greece without the existence of income criteria. This means that the 18-year-olds will get the €150 next year as well without having to apply again, which is submitted once. If an 18-year-old does not apply for the money this year, he can do so next year, but the aid is not retroactive.

The Youth Pass it takes the form of a digital debit card which beneficiaries will be able to use in businesses active in the fields of culture, tourism and transport. Examples include:
- Air transport
- Hotels – Accommodations
- Taxis, Trains, Buses
- E-Books, Movies, Music
- Cinema – Theater
- Dance schools – Concerts
- Museums – Tourist attractions
The application process is very simple and after submission the beneficiary is informed either by e-mail or text message about the activation of their card with an embedded link to activate the digital debit card. Digital debit cards remain active for 2 years from the month following their issue. After this period, it is not possible to carry out transactions with them.
The youth pass is here to stay, i.e. it will be a permanent annual subsidy. From 2024 onwards, the special platform will be open from April Fools’ Day to May 15. The money will be paid once a year by May 31.
