The 4th Santa Run was organized with the support of the Piraeus Health Runners Association and the Volunteers Group against Cancer “AgaliaZO”
Hundreds of Santa Clauses, young and old, “flooded” the central streets of Piraeus, through the special, festive sports event, held for the 4th consecutive year by the Municipality of Piraeus and the Organization for Culture, Sports and Youth (OPA .N.).
The Saints wore their costumes again this year, which were made available free of charge by the Municipality of Piraeus, they started from Korai Square and with an intermediate stop at Kanari Square they ended at the Municipal Theater, bringing smiles to the passers-by, but also spreading the message of the joy of Christmas, of love and companionship.
The 4th Santa Run was organized with his support Association of Piraeus Health Runners and the Association of Volunteers against Cancer “AgaliaZO”in the context of the municipality’s festive events “Christmas in Piraeus – Holidays in the Neighborhoods”.
The Mayor of Piraeus, Yiannis Moralis, in his statement, emphasized:
“Piraeus was full of Saints! We were also there, as a family, at the 4th Santa Run of Piraeus! Well done to everyone, young and old, who defied the cold and the drizzle, put on Santa’s outfit and ran through the main streets of the city, to spread the message of Christmas joy.
Congratulations to the Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Piraeus for the organization, to the Association of Health Runners of Piraeus – SDYP and to the Group of Volunteers Against Cancer “AgaliaZO”, for their valuable support! And next year, let’s be good! Happy Birthday!
For his part, the President of O.P.A.N. Iosif Vourakis, underlined: “Santa Run Piraeus has become an institution for the city of Piraeus and I would like to thank everyone who participated, the workers, the Piraeus Health Runners Association, but also the Anti-Cancer Volunteer Group “AgaliaZO” who is always by our side. Also, I would like to add that this is also the last action we are taking as an Organization, as a new law reorganizes the services of the municipality. However, as the Mayor said, we will cope with this difficulty as well”.
The Honorary President of the Association of Piraeus Health Runners, Sotiris Kakias, said: “The people of Piraeus have embraced this institution. We want and hope that in the coming years more and more residents and friends of Piraeus will participate in this action”.
The President of the Group of Volunteers against Cancer – EmbraceZO Anastasia Pasakopoulouin her statement, emphasized: “The message we want to “pass” with our participation in the Santa Run Piraeus is that no one is alone in the face of cancer, we participate, we are informed, we are protected.”
In this festive event, the participants had the opportunity to contribute to the strengthening of the social work of the Volunteers Group against Cancer – AgaliaZO, while at the end of the route they received a commemorative medal.
