“We support all Greek women and men so that they have the necessary goods, especially those groups that are most in need,” noted the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, during his visit to the Central Vegetable Market of Athens in Rentis.

Representatives of the Vegetable Market delivered more than 20 tons of fresh fruit and vegetable products collected by the Merchants’ Association of the Central Vegetable Market of Athens (SEKLA) and the Organization of Central Markets and Fisheries (OKAA), in order to be distributed to Municipalities, Metropolises, social groceries and others carriers support for weaker social groups.

Mr. Skrekas stated: “These days of Christmas give the opportunity, in addition to joy, to show solidarity to people who are weak and vulnerable. It is a great symbolism, because these days are the days when we all have to show our humanity. I want to congratulate for today’s initiative the Association of Merchants of the Central Vegetable Market as well as the Council of the Central Vegetable Market of Athens who for the second time have collected more than 20 tons of fruits and vegetables which will be distributed to the Metropolises and Foundations so that they can be filled tables of people who these days need our support. All the initiatives of our Government are moving in this direction. We support all Greek women and all Greek men to have the necessary goods, especially those groups that are most in need”.

The minister also had a meeting with executives and members of the administration of the Central Vegetable Market during which issues concerning the market, the primary production of agricultural products and their handling procedures were discussed.”
