Handcuffs on a 70-year-old prison escapee who last August, during his attempt to grab an elderly woman’s bag, seriously injured her, resulting in her death, were “put on” by the police last Friday.

According to ELAS, the 70-year-old was wanted as a fugitive from the prisons of Trikala where he was imprisoned, serving a prison sentence for a multitude of crimes, among which, distinguished thefts and snatching of bags. On April 12, 2023, he violated a regular leave granted to him and disappeared.

The fugitive who was arrested in Salamis on August 15 physically assaulted an 80-year-old woman in Nice in order to grab her bag, causing her to fall to the ground and severely injure her, which resulted in her death in the following days .

From the police officers of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution of Crimes Against Life and Property who have arrested him so far, the following have been identified:

* the above robbery attempt against the 80-year-old patient which led to her death,
* the theft of the two-wheeler that he used as a means of committing the robbery in question and
* theft of a bag at the expense of a 66-year-old woman, committed in the morning hours of 10-24-2023 in Tavros.
