The work to repair the damage to the legendary aircraft was completed after about a month
The repairs to the stern of the anti-destroyer ship “Velos” were completed last Tuesday night, after the breach suffered by the bad weather.
According to information from GRTimes, the work to restore the damage to the legendary aircraft was completed, after about a month, while the financial costs were taken over by a Greek shipping company, which has covered its maintenance costs in recent years.
As Navy sources report to GRTimes on a/t, will remain until further notice at Pier 1 (position three) of the Port of Thessaloniki with the permission of OLTH, where he moved.
Decisions on the final berthing of the ship will be made after the holidays, following consultations of the THA, the GEN and city bodies to find the most suitable spot.
All scenarios for the docking location remain open, however what is of key importance is the safety of the historic warship and its reopening as a museum of the anti-dictatorship struggle (it is not open to the public at the moment).
Reasonably, however, as the sources of GRTimes estimate, the “Arrow” cannot remain at Pier 1 of the Port, as it obstructs cruise ships and, moreover, it will not be able to function as a museum.
Finally, it is worth noting that local professional and business bodies are openly in favor of the “Arrow” staying in the city, a factor that may be a lever of pressure for the final decision.
