The Asylo Aniaton was visited by the regional governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, who exchanged greetings with the guests as well as with the medical and nursing staff.

The regional governor was informed about the social contribution of the Foundation, toured the premises, praised the work of the staff, talked with the visiting beneficiaries, Vasso, Giannis, Dionysis, Maria from Argostoli who turned 100 years old this year and they cut the New Year’s king cake together.

The Regional Governor of Attica emphasized the importance of supporting social structures. As he stated:

“It is a special day, next to special people, here, at the Aniaton Asylum, in this big family for thousands of needy patients in its more than one hundred years of operation.

During these festive days, our thoughts were – and will remain – with our fellow human beings who need our embrace, with those who need our practical solidarity. And we must keep this in practice every day.

For me, it’s a new beginning. I owe – and I personally commit – that I will try every day to be useful to society, to the citizens and to all those who trusted me with their love and with their big hug. Good strength and happy new year to everyone!”

In all of its 130 years of operation, the Asylo Aniatos and the Foundation for the Care of Chronic Patients have cared for and treated, free of charge, more than 8,500 citizens with disabilities from all over Greece. At the moment, the Aniaton Asylum accommodates 130 beneficiaries, providing them with round-the-clock support and employs a staff of 120 people in various specialties (doctors, physiotherapists, physiotherapists, nurses, occupational therapists, administrative and support staff).

The Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalia, was welcomed and escorted to the premises by Mrs. Ioanna Iliadis, President of the Board of Directors. Aniaton Asylum, Ms. Sabina Serpieri Public Relations and Volunteers Manager, Mr. Giorgos Giannakos General Manager of the Foundation for the Care of Chronic Patients – Pathologist, Infectious Disease, Mr. Giorgos Kalyvas Deputy Director of Nursing Service, Mr. Yiannis Vasilopoulos and Mr. Tasos Houndis from the Association of Employees of the Asylum for Children and the Foundation for the Care of the Chronically Ill and Mr. Eleftherios Skiadas, former president of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Athens.
