In the first episode of the podcast “Let’s Be Clear” of the year, the popular actress of “Beverly Hills, 90210”, Shannen Doherty (Shannen Doherty) with guest oncologist Dr. Lawrence Piro (Dr. Lawrence Piro), discussed the evolution of cancer treatments in recent years.

“I always talk about the fact that I have another three to five years to live and then there will be T-cell therapy. There will be many more options given another five years. Then in those five years, there’s going to be another group of options and eventually there’s going to be a cure,” Doherty said on the podcast.

It is noted that the famous actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. Through a very difficult journey, in an interview with PEOPLE in November she revealed that the cancer has spread to the bones.

Both emphasized the importance of finding the right protocol for each patient while her doctor described the journey as a horse race as patients hope and wait for new treatments.

“I always say it’s important to think of each treatment as a horse, and in a race you want to ride each horse as much as possible, and then ride the next horse as much as possible… You hope to go a few laps and then there’s a whole new set of horses to ride, to make the race that much bigger,” Lawrence Pirro said.

“I’m riding these horses to get to the new set of horses and trying to make the one I’m on now last as long as possible,” added the famous Brenda Walsh.
