The agony for the case of the three brothers from Patras who all lost their lives within a period of three years, plunging their family into mourning and causing shock in Greece, has risen to the vertical.
In order to better investigate this serious case, the Prosecution of Patras forwarded the file with the preliminary to the Security of Attica. The Homicide Department will undertake to investigate the causes and circumstances of the death of the three children, in order to answer the parents’ questions.
The case of unexplained deaths has preoccupied everyone at the judicial, scientific and social levels.
As it became known, based on the order for the preliminary examination, the parents of the three girls, the medical examiners who wrote reports on the “mysterious” deaths and the pediatricians will be called to testify.
Yesterday, the parents of the three children made a joint statement through their lawyer, Dimitris Karabelas.
The statement emphasizes that they were particularly pleased to be informed of the start of the prosecutor’s investigation in order to fully clarify the causes of death.
At the same time, they kindly call for the cessation of any publication or reproduction of confused information and inaccuracies regarding the case.

On behalf of the parents of the three minor children who “left” so early in life, Emmanuel Daskalaki and Sotiria Daskalaki-Pispirigou, I declare the following:
Initially, the parents express their gratitude to the society of Patras, as well as to the whole of Greece, for the messages of support and support they received during this period in the untold drama they are experiencing.
However, in order to correct inaccuracies published in various media, especially electronic press, as well as in malicious comments, written below relevant publications, they clarify that:
(a) The cause of death of little Malena in the year 2019 at the age of 3.5 years was initially the sudden cessation of unspecified causes, and then the death was attributed to liver failure and pulmonary edema. To investigate Malena’s death, the parents have filed a lawsuit against anyone responsible before the Athens Prosecutor’s Office and the case is being investigated criminally.
(b) The cause of death of the little Iris in the year 2021 at the age of 6 months, according to the initial medical certifications was also the sudden cessation of unspecified causes, but then after the histopathological examinations it emerged that the death of the infant came from birth – very rare – pathological causes (sinus node agenesis). Also, according to what the doctors who examined the baby told them, with this rare pathological problem he was facing, he could not live more than 15 years.
(c) The cause of the recent death of little Georgina at the age of 9 is at present (likewise) the sudden cessation of unspecified causes, as the results of the histopathological examinations are pending. They are waiting with special interest for these results, which may “shed light” on the causes of her death.
The parents were very pleased to learn today through me that already yesterday (9-2-2022) Mrs. The Head of the Patras Prosecutor’s Office ordered the Patras Security Ministry to conduct a preliminary examination in order to fully clarify the causes of her death.
In conclusion, the parents kindly urge to stop any publication or reproduction of confused information and inaccuracies about the case, which do not contribute to such a sensitive and tragic issue, as well as the -in the midst of their heavy mourning- constant annoyance themselves and other members of their families to obtain information on the progress of the case.
