Another murder, another link in the settling accounts in organized crimeemphasizes in his statement the head of Citizen Protection, MP SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance of Preveza Prefecture, Kostas Barkas, on the murder in the New World, adding that the political leadership should leave the communication rumors and really deal with the problem, which has reached uncontrollable proportions.

He also notes that “the political leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection is the same as the one that watched helplessly as the gangs settled their differences with a hail of bullets in central parts of Athens in 2020. Thirty cases of settlement of accounts of criminal organizations in the last four years and not one has been solved. Citizens are tired of seeing reports from various “sources”, that every three or so “arrests are coming” and all that remains is insecurity. They are tired of the communication fiestas of Mr. Chrysochoidis with the files with 500 names of the “Greek mafia” to surround them, in fact without tangible results in the offices of the prosecutors. The undisturbed activity of criminal gangs leads to questioning the very feeling of security of the citizens, which is a sovereign and Constitutional obligation of an organized state. The SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance government had faced similar challenges with the active participation of the EYP, as well as with the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice, in order to identify the routes, relationships and orders given through the prisons. We are finally waiting for the political leadership to leave the communication rumors and really deal with the problem, which has acquired uncontrollable dimensions”.
