The ban applies from the Pamvotidas Junction, at the 73rd kilometer to the Panagias Junction, at the 121st kilometer, in both traffic streams
The traffic of any kind of vehicle with a maximum permissible weight of more than 3.5 tons is temporarily prohibited from the Pamvotida Junction, at the 73rd kilometer to the Panagia Junction, at the 121st kilometer of the “Egnatia Odos” highway in both traffic streams.
According to the announcement from the General Regional Police Directorate of Epirus, the ban was decided due to the adverse weather conditions, the heavy snowfall, in the prefecture of Ioannina.
According to the relevant decision of the Ioannina Police Directorate:
* The use of anti-skid chains or other similar anti-skid means is mandatory for all vehicles on the above section of the highway.
The following vehicles are excluded from the above restrictions:
* roadside assistance,
* snow plows and trucks carrying salt and
* emergency.
The provisions of the relevant decision are valid until the weather phenomena subside and drivers are requested to comply with the instructions of the traffic police.
