The schools of the municipality of Kilkis will remain closed tomorrow due to the cold.

By decision of the mayor of Kilkis, Dimitris Kyriakidis, the primary and secondary schools, as well as the special education structures of the municipality of Kilkis, will not operate tomorrow, Monday, January 22, due to the adverse weather conditions that prevail, with the main characteristics being severe cold and frost.

School lessons will be taught remotely (distance learning) in collaboration with the heads of the two educational levels and the school principals. Municipal daycare centers are exempt from the decision, which will operate normally.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, the mayor of Veria, Kostas Borgiazidis, decided that the schools in Rizomata and Tripotamos – Rachis Elementary School will remain closed on Monday.

In particular, they will not work:

Rizomat Primary School – Daskiou – Sfikia, Rizomat Kindergarten, Rizomat High School with High School Classes, Tripotamou-Rachis Primary School and Tripotamou Kindergarten.

All other schools of the municipality of Veria will operate normally.

At 10 in the morning, the primary and secondary education units of the Municipality of Edessa will operate.

In particular, the municipality of Edessa announced that tomorrow, Monday 22/01/2024, due to the very low temperatures in the early hours of the morning, according to the forecasts of the National Meteorological Service, it was decided with the safety of the students and the educational staff in mind, after communication of the competent vice-mayor of Education and Sports with the mayor of Edessa, Ioannis Tsepkentzis, all the school units of the Primary and Secondary Education of the Municipality to operate at 10 in the morning. Municipal kindergartens will operate normally.
