A woman fell victim to domestic violence in Aigio by her 53-year-old husband, who attacked her with a broken glass, threatening to kill her. The woman has injuries on her face and jaw from the blows.
According to information from filodimos.gr, the frightened woman locked herself in the toilet of their house in Messinezi, in order to escape from her husband’s hands and called a friend asking for help. She then called the police and reported the incident.
Police immediately rushed to the house where they found the man kicking the bathroom door where his wife had been locked.
Police arrested him and took him to the police station on charges of violating the law on domestic violence, while the woman initially went to the hospital accompanied by police to receive first aid, as she suffered injuries to the face and jaw from broken glass. She then filed a lawsuit against her husband.
Police sources state that in her testimony she revealed that for years the man had been beating and abusing her, but she did not file a complaint because she was afraid for her own life and that of her child.
