They were found guilty today by Single-member Misdemeanor Court of RhodesA 35-year-old father and his 33-year-old wife, who were arrested and taken to court for failing to send child their schoolbecause of pandemic.
The courtimposed a 14-month prison sentence and a fine of 3,000 euros (in more detail regarding the fine: 100 daily units to 30 euros per day), to each of the two defendants with a three-year suspension.
THE arrest of the couple took place on February 11, 2022 and this is another case that took the path of justice in the context of the preliminary examination that has been ordered and carried out since January 2022, Mrs. Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Rhodes.
According to what has become known, the couple does not send their child who attends primary school, to his school, wanting to protect it from the pandemic. The trial was to take place last Friday, February 11, 2022 at noon in the Single-Member Autophorous Criminal Court of Rhodes, but in the end both parties requested and received a deadline for today.
Meanwhile, another father was arrested this morning for not sending his child to school due to the pandemic, despite the fact that he is required to attend school.
The parent, accompanied by his lawyer Mr. Dimos Moutafis, was brought before the Single-Member Autonomous Criminal Court of Rhodes, where he asked for and received a deadline, so the case will be heard next Thursday (February 17).
The father was released.
