The state’s measures to reduce traffic – Point System on our mobile, cameras on avenues and drones – The reduction of speed limits is being considered
The state is preparing to take a series of measures by tightening the Code of Civil Procedure in order to reduce traffic accidents.
According to Chrysa Batou’s report on SKAI, cameras will initially be placed at key points, i.e. where there have been serious traffic accidents or accidents.
The cameras will take a picture, they will send these files to the Police Authorities, the fine will be verified, then the fine will be uploaded first on the online platform and then it will reach us with a simple SMS.
Point System
On our mobile phone we will also have the electronic criminal record, the so-called point system.
For example, I am a driver, I commit an offence, there I will be loaded with some points, at 15 I will get a reminder from GOV, at 25 my driving license will be taken away and I will have to pass the test again.
Speed limits
Regarding speed limits, it is being considered to drop from 50 km/h to 30 km/h within the city.
Finally, drones will fly on the streets of Athens which will have a live image in the ELAS operations room, traffic will be controlled and the traffic police will intervene where necessary.
