With or without a tractor? And if so, with how many tractors? The rally organized in Athens for Tuesday has now entered a state of… negotiation between the government and farmers. Farmers wish to protest with their tractors at Constitutionin front of the Parliament, the government, however, is not willing to allow a total blackout in the capital, putting a “brake” on the plans drawn up by the blocs.

According to information, a second round of contacts between the government and the farmers has already begun, with the object of whether to allow the entry of tractor in Athens or not. The government is negative, but it cannot be ruled out that, with the consent of the government and the relevant ministry, a limited number of tractors will be allowed to lead the rural rally.

The processes to organize the gathering are expected to intensify over the weekend and the two sides to reach a solution, at least by Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the forces of the farmers are being strengthened at the blockades, who expressed strong dissatisfaction with the government’s attitude of not allowing the tractors to enter Athens.

“We don’t want to create problems, that’s what we emphasized to Mr. Minister, in the city, we want to go peacefully to hold our rally and get up and leave nicely and nicely,” said the George Diamantopoulospresident of the agricultural association of Alexandria.

“The response in the first phase is negative in relation to the tractors for the descent to Athens. But we believe that the government will reconsider and, as in all European countries, there were corresponding and similar mobilizations”, said the Rizos Maroudaspresident of the federation of rural associations of Larisa.

According to reports, the Alamana block will be the gathering point for tractors from various regions of Greece. From there, the convoy to Athens will start, while tractors from more distant areas are likely to be loaded onto trucks, in order to be transported to the assembly point.

“If they don’t leave us in peace, we will go by force. Because the decision of the block of yesterday’s meeting in Nice was clear that the farmers will go down to Athens with tractors and the farmers do not go back on this decision, whatever problem the government creates for us, the prime minister himself will bear the responsibility. Why the farmers don’t back down,” said Mr Dimitris Dimogiannisrepresentative of the Alamana bloc.
