There is great interest among farmers in coming down to the rally in Athens with tractors, according to information provided by the SKAI reporter, Panos Garoufalias.

At the same time, the government and farmers are again in communication on the issue, after the first “no” expressed yesterday on behalf of the government by the responsible minister, Michalis Chrysochoidis.

“It seems that there will be an agreement until Sunday night or until Monday, in order to ‘lock’ the number of tractors” Panos Garoufalias reported.

Speaking to SKAI o Yannis Koukoutsismember of the committee of the agricultural blocs, confirmed that there is a great interest of farmers to come down to Athens with tractors.

“It is logical that there is interest from the farmers, they have not been covered by what we have received, there is frustration and anger at the way things are presented” said Mr. Koukoutsis.

He continued by saying: “We continue with the decision we have made, we invite everyone to be there to demonstrate peacefully in Syntagma Square.”

“We are sounding the alarm that the production base of Greece is shrinking. Immediate solutions must be provided and we must see what happens with CAP which has brought all the farmers of Europe to the streets. We are waiting for answers because we also love Greece, we want to stay in our country”, he said.

Mr. Koukoutsis repeated the demands of the farmers: “The first and foremost request is tax-free agricultural oil for 100% of our needs. There are ways not to smuggle, the technocrats know the ways. What the government is giving us does not solve our problem.” Regarding electricity, he said, finally, that “what we ask for is what makes us sustainable”.
