All the last details before the “parade” – From Monday the farmers of Thessaly start – The government insists: “There is no fiscal space”
The last details before the descent of the tractors in the center of Athens are organized by the farmers. Buses from every corner of Greece and agricultural machinery from Thessaly, Fthiotida and Boeotia will flood the center of the capital on Tuesday to demonstrate their demands against the government.
Consultations with the government seem to have resulted in some kind of agreement, as, according to information, the descent of the tractors will take place in a coordinated manner and accompanied by police forces.
More specifically, from Monday morning the convoys with tractors and agricultural vehicles will start from Thessaly. The appointment has been made for 10 in the morning, in Platykambos.
Along the way, tractors from Karditsa, Anthili and Atalanti will be added, before ending up at Vootia Castle, where they will merge with the tractors of the area.
In Kastro, the last meeting of the farmers at a nationwide level will take place on Monday afternoon, in order to coordinate the movements of the rally with the other actions in other parts of the country. We remind you that the farmers have decided parallel actions in ports, national roads and customs.
It is estimated that the number of tractors that will “parade” in the Syntagma may be in the triple digits.
As for the movement to Athens, the farmers have reportedly decided to move in smaller groups of 20-30 tractors, escorted by vehicles – in case of tractor damage – and police forces.
According to what has been leaked, at 5:30 in the afternoon the farmers are scheduled to gather in Omonia square and at 6:30 in the afternoon, they will end up at the Syntagma, where the “parade” of tractors will take place in front of the Parliament.
The government, for its part, is said to allow the tractors to enter the Constitution, however, it has not backed down from its positions regarding the demands of the farmers, repeating at every opportunity that a large part of the demands had been satisfied, while now, there are no more fiscal margins for further benefits.
