A 51-year-old woman was arrested last Friday afternoon by police officers of the Property Rights Protection Department of the Attica Security Directorate in Athens, against whom an arrest warrant was pending for continuous fraud with a total benefit of more than 120,000 euros and the use of a forged document.

In particular, according to ELAS, the 51-year-old along with accomplices who are wanted, pretending to be a lawyer specializing in notarial matters, managed to extract a large amount of money under the pretext of selling real estate and cars that have been seized by banks.

As it became known from the Police, from the preliminary investigation, it emerged that the accused, presenting herself as an employee of a notary office in Athens that managed real estate and cars, which had fallen to credit institutions after confiscations, approached unsuspecting citizens and the convinced them to pay sums of money as an advance for file expenses until the signing of a pre-agreement for the purchase of real estate and cars.

For this purpose, he prepared responsible statements with false information, informed prospective buyers about all the details to establish a climate of trust, while urging them to check the properties externally while showing a copy of a blank criminal record with false information without ever completing the agreed purchase and sale , thus obtaining an illegal financial benefit.

From the preliminary investigation carried out, 11 cases of fraud were discovered, while the total monetary benefit amounts to more than 120,000 euros.

The arrested woman was taken to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
