Koutsoumbas: In the blocks of farmers in Livadia and Pelasgia

by

With farmers who have lined up the tractor in node of Ai-Giannis in Livadia the secretary of the KKE Central Committee met Dimitris Koutsoumbas with whom he discussed the mobilizations.

The farmers referred to a series of issues which, as they said, led them to “take to the streets”.

Describing the conditions under which they should start their cultivation, they said that “the cost of production has skyrocketed to a very high level, which is now a concern for all farmers as to how they will cultivate as they are at a dead end.”

They referred to the increases in the prices of fertilizers, which, as they said, from 17 euros that the sack had reached 40 euros, as well as to the increases in oil and electricity.

They also argued that any interim measures do not cure the situation and expressed their determination to stay on the road until they receive answers.

“We do not even think that we should move forward in the next period to cultivate our fields. With such increases-fire, every crop is doomed “underlined Giannis Vangos, member of the Panhellenic Committee of Blocks.

The secretary of the KKE Central Committee stressed the need “to immediately reduce the cost of production” as he said, because “the farmer can not cultivate when the cost has skyrocketed to such heights.” He also stressed that “the same should be done with the oil which should be granted tax free”.

Referring to the increase in electricity, he stressed that “issues are raised with the adjustment clause for rural electricity” which, as he said, “should be abolished immediately.” He noted the need to subsidize the supplies needed by the farmer to cultivate and that VAT should be abolished on items in supplies and media.

He spoke of “a plan that should exist, a program that should meet all these basic needs of farmers” and as he characteristically stressed “to implement all this requires political will.”

The secretary of the KKE criticized the other opposition parties but also the government mainly “for the negative attitude they took when the KKE parliamentary group submitted three amendments to the Parliament for the subsidy and the abolition of the adjustment clause in the rural stream, the return of the expert excise duty on agricultural oil and zero VAT on agricultural supplies tools and machinery “.

“And because Mr. Tsipras will come here the day after tomorrow, the other parties will also come, probably Mr. Androulakis, I do not know the others, ask them why on November 23, in Parliament, the three proposals of KKE amendments that were did not you vote for the farmers? Of course, the same applies to the government majority, the government MPs, ask them why they did not vote for all this or even one of them? ” Mr. Koutsoubas noted, while commenting on yesterday’s debate in Parliament on armaments programs, stressed that: “For our French friends we have to pay another billion euros, while for the farmers there is no money.”

A while ago, Dimitris Koutsoumbas found himself in the blockade that farmers have set up in Pelasgia of Fthiotida.

His farmers raised the specific issues related to olive growing in the area, culminating in the fact that the three years that have not borne fruit from their trees.

“Today we have no income from anywhere,” the farmers told Mr. Koutsoubas, painting in the most gray colors the situation that prevails due to the three-year barrenness of the olive trees, noting that “they are claiming compensation.”

Mr. Koutsoubas underlined that the KKE “supports the just demands of the farmers who are fighting for their survival” as he said.

After Pelasgia, Mr. Koutsoumbas continues his journey for the Nice bloc in Larissa where he will have a meeting with the Panhellenic Committee of Blocs.
