Safari checks in areas of the Municipality of Chalkidona, in Thessaloniki carried out in the afternoon and evening of Friday by the Greek Police with the aim of preventing the delinquency of minors.

According to the announcement of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, “a total of 34 minors were checked in the context of the operational action of ELAS” and that “similar excursions will continue”.

In detail, the announcement of the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki:

“A special operational action for the prevention of juvenile delinquency was planned and implemented by the Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki in the afternoon and evening hours of March 1, 2024, in areas of the Municipality of Chalkidona, with the assistance of police officers of the Security Directorates, Immediate Action, of Foreigners and Police of Thessaloniki.

In the context of the action, which was developed in selected places, a total of (34) minors were checked. The purpose was to collect data and map the movement of minors who may be involved in delinquent incidents.

The data collected will be the subject of evaluation, utilization and investigation for the design of targeted actions in areas where there is an accumulation of cases of juvenile delinquency.

Similar excursions will continue in the field of preventing and dealing with the phenomenon of youth crime.”
