New guidelines for booster dose after illness – Detailed examples

by

The recommendations for vaccination after coronavirus disease have changed once again.

While until now, those who had a single dose of the vaccine with Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca and then got sick had to wait 1 to 3 months for the second dose, now they can proceed normally with their scheduled vaccination without waiting. Then, they can do the booster dose after 3 months from the second (case 3).

Also, those who have completed their vaccination and then become ill are now advised to take the booster dose in the 3 months after the illness, instead of the previous 1 to 3 months (case 4 and 5).

The recommendations for those who became ill and then proceeded with their basic vaccination remain unchanged. They must make the booster dose in the 3 months from the second or the single dose (case 1st and 2nd).

With regard to booster vaccination, those who have taken 2 doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca are advised to take the booster dose 3 months later (case 1).

The instruction is now different for those who have done the J&J monosodium, who are recommended to take the booster dose 2 months after their vaccination (case 2).

Those who have taken a first dose with Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca and have taken a second dose with J&J are not recommended to take a booster dose (case 3).
