The new one started today, Monday, April 22 specialized vocational training program of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) in the “Building Maintenance” specialty at the Chania Penitentiary.
The program, lasting 250 hours, addressed to 15 prisoners and aims, upon completion, to be able to recognize building material technology, perform corrective maintenance-repair operations, apply appropriate repair techniques to plumbing and electromechanical installations and perform simple carpentry and construction work, using the appropriate tools and materials.
The training program is implemented through the Rentis Lifelong Learning Center of DYPA, while it is part of DYPA’s cooperation with the General Secretariat of Anti-Criminal Policy of the Ministry of Citizen Protection.
The educational programs of the KDVM of DYPA aim to effectively link professional training with employment, through integrated interventions, to prevent long-term unemployment, but also to provide professional training for vulnerable population groups, which are threatened with exclusion from the labor market.
As stated in a relevant announcement, DYPA prioritizes the planning and implementation of vocational training programs aimed at prisoners, with the aim of strengthening their knowledge and skills in professional fields that are in demand in the labor market and their substantial support in the new their initiation, after their release from prison.
